I, Me, Us, We
Erys Lesprit had a traumatic childhood that for sixty years, she couldn't escape. At any hint of danger, she would time travel to her past, feeling and acting as if the abuse she received then could happen at any moment.
Five years ago, she received a diagnosis that explained everything: dissociative identidy disorder (DID). We all have parts that manifest in different situations, but hers didn’t talk to each other and popped in and out, taking control chaotically and often inappropriately.
Through therapy, and with the love and support of her family, she discovered that trauma is healable and began to grow up her parts, understand herself, and gain some control of her DID.
I, Me, Us, We is a collection of 40 illustrated poems that map her journey, from the childhood that caused her trauma, to its impact on her life, marriage and motherhood, to finally beginning to heal.
The core premise is human resilience. Even when we’re broken apart, we can come back together as human beings and thrive.
Reviews from Trauma Therapists
"I, Me, Us, We is not just another poetry book. It is a miracle of resilience. And whilst “miracle” might seem to be too special of a word, it isn’t, because in the world of trauma, miracles happen every day. I know this, because I witness them."

"Erys Lesprit's book, I, Me, Us, We, presents a moving account of a traumatic childhood that caused C-PTSD and Dissociative Identity Disorder. Through poetry and expressive drawings, Esys shares her path to healing and hihglights the role of self-compassion and empowerment in recovery. This book is the tale of her journey freeing herself from a shame that was not hers. This book offers valuable insights and hopes for anyone who has survived childhood trauma."

I Am Dirty Lace
Please stack the bones neatly
In the cupboard in the hall,
The one into which I disappeared
When I was very small.
Hidden like dirty lace,
Trailed on the floor,
The secret little girl,
Foolish liar,
Whore.We talk with resilience now
About how great it was before
Now at least we see
The broken minds and bodies
Where they fall.
We see the hearts squeezed out,
The eyes hot and dry,
All the injured children,
Who have forgotten
How to cry.Now we are ready
To expose the lies,
We will surely see and understand
The reasons why.
Our world is crushed and broken,
A smashed gourd on the floor,
Millions of discarded innocents
Never seen nor heard
Before.
