Indigoextra - home schooling in France
Home education in France

IndigoExtra is a website that provides useful information to parents considering or already home educating their children. It contains useful links to a wide range of home schooling and alternative methods of learning throughout the world, with a focus on Europe and in particular France. There is also a kids section with cartoons, puzzles and illustrated books.

We are a home-educating family of four, Allison and Martin Woods, with our sons, Tormey and Saskian Woods. We live in Languedoc-Roussillon, South France and run gites in Languedoc-Roussillon. Allison is also a painter and illustrator. Martin designs crosswords for The Big Issue in the North, creates websites and is currently writing his first novel.

We'd also ideally like to put several pages of the site into French (however our French isn't sufficient), therefore if you'd like to translate one or more pages of the site, we'd love to hear from you. If you do, you're welcome to say your own views too, and include links to other relevant websites.

Home education, also called alternative education or homeschooling, is a valid alternative to school. It is on the increase as it ensures a great education for children and as a response to problems at school, such as truancy and bullying. This website focuses on Europe, particularly France.
