What is Shiatsu?

Originating in Japan, Shiatsu is a safe and effective therapeutic treatment based on 5000 years of experience.

Shiatsu in Essex

It has been called “Acupuncture without needles” and “Japanese Physiotherapy”.

It involves different techniques to soothe, balance, release and/or stimulate the body systems to enable ease and relaxation to return to the body.

Shiatsu is a holistic form of alternative therapy, taking into account the emotional, mental and spiritual needs, as well as the physical.

It is beneficial for all individuals including those who do not have a specific condition and can be adapted for specific clients such as children, people with disabilities, pregnant women and the elderly.

Clients remain dressed throughout the treatment.

Shiatsu practitioners undertake professional training for 3 years to qualify for the Diploma.

Shiatsu in Essex

If you live in or near Essex in the UK, we highly recommend the Shiatsu practitioner, Alison Hosking from Well Being One - see Shiatsu in Essex for more information.

We've had several Shiatsu treatments from her and found them tremendously beneficial, and very energising. Alison is great with children and our 2 sons have also benefitted from both the Shiatsu treatments and the advice Alison has given us.

Here's some blurb about Alison that we've copied from her leaflet:

Prior to becoming a Shiatsu practitioner I suffered terribly from a bad back and sciatica and eventually became wheel chair bound.

Following surgery, Shiatsu assisted my recovery and this confirmed my interest in becoming a practitioner.

I qualified with The British School of Shiatsu-Do, then became a member of the professional body, The Shiatsu Society. I am currently undertaking postgraduate study to continue in my professional development.

I have always been interested in alternative therapy and in helping people achieve balance and wellbeing in their lives. I have previous experience as an NLP practitioner and careers advisor.

I now run a busy Shiatsu clinic in Colchester, Essex.
